Offshore Updates

I'll be leaving Monday at 0315 for an offshore field seminar aboard the SSV Corwith Cramer and will be out of communication until February 12th. Follow our progress here or on the SEA website.

The Golden Gorilla

The Golden Gorilla Ninja match is on. The game is open to students, faculty, and staff.

HOW IT WORKS:

Someone initially steals the Golden Gorilla statue from Catherine's office. (Using mad Ninja skills).

The Golden Gorilla continues to be ninja-ed away from those who would claim it as their own.

The person in possession of the Golden Gorilla upon arrival at Closing Dinner (ninja-ing is not permitted in the restaurant) wins a prize that will announce to the world his/her awesomeness.

Snow!

Morning tour during Maritime History...as it starts to snow...looking at the restoration process of the Charles W. Morgan.

A completely candid photo of my roommate enjoying some brisk weather and maritime literature.

"The Stream" from Ernest Hemingway's Green Hills of Africa (1935).

One of my favorites so far....

Carr House

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Day One

So I'm living in "Carr House" with four other girls split between two double rooms and a single. My roommate and I are sharing a pretty small room with a bunk bed, but with everything to do I'll be lucky to even have time to spend 8 sleeping hours here, so space shouldn't pose a problem. Ours is one of four historic (read: really old and flammable) houses owned by the seaport museum.

Here's my address for the semester:

Gabrielle Joffe
4 Bruggeman Place
Mystic, CT 06355

....send packages to:

Need I say more? Love letters, chocolate, Bonine...k thx!
